The Orchard Station Subarea – Comprehensive Plan Draft that will be voted on next Tuesday at the July 19 Planning and Zoning Meeting states in its opening sentence that “The Greenwood Village community desires an identifiable center in the Corridor Planning Area that serves as a downtown gathering place for all Greenwood Village residents.”
However, in the Greenwood Village 2014 Citizen Survey, the word “downtown” does not appear once in the entire survey results.
In fact, the top 3 issues for residents were reported as: 1) Traffic control/management; 2) Limit new development/maintain low density; and 3) Reduce traffic. How can the city claim that people want a downtown, when the number two item on the list is to “limit new development/maintain low density“. Instead the city responds by laying the groundwork for a 3.3 million sqft “high-density mixed-use development”.
